Student Needs Now Fund

Never in our lifetime, until now, has there been a bigger upheaval in the lives of students. During this worldwide pandemic, it has become all the more evident that public schools are vital, not only for educational enrichment but also for providing a crucial safety net for our most vulnerable young learners.  

Families of students are now tasked with facilitating distance learning, and kitchen tables are now classrooms.  

This overwhelming responsibility is a challenge for families in stable environments.  For families who were already vulnerable through food insecurity or other economic barriers, the task of providing a safe place for children to learn and thrive is even more daunting.  Prior to the pandemic, over 40 percent of students in Eugene School District 4J qualified for free and reduced lunches.  Many more families were just above the threshold.  

We are working closely with district employees who are monitoring the needs of families in our community.  They will direct support from caring donors like you towards areas of greatest need, where it will have the biggest impact.
