Eugene School District 4J, in partnership with Youth Era and 15th Night, is opening Eugene's first youth resource center and hostel located at 44 W. 7th in Eugene.
Students experiencing homelessness are often hidden in plain sight and often it is the simple things, like access to food, mental health services, and educational support that will help them stay connected to the school and off the streets.
Approximately 280 4J students are navigating school, life, and homelessness without a parent or guardian.
The number of students in 4J who are unaccompanied has multiplied since the start of the pandemic. In that time, the district learned of a student who was 11 years old sleeping on their own under one of the bridges in town!
These are the students who are most at risk of dropping out of school and suffering from chronic homelessness.

Building renovations are currently underway and programming will be opening in phases. Students can now access:
In the second phase, hours expand to include afterschool programming and other supports. In the final phase, students needing emergency shelter will be able to access the youth hostel for one-night stays.
